Hello, my name is Mandy.....I'm a germophobe!!!

For those of you who don't know, I think I am the most germophobic person in the world. Here are some of the reasons that I think I might be a little over the top when it comes to germs.

1 - I HATE toilets!!! They gross me out. Whenever I use a public restroom, I always inspect all of the stalls to see which one looks the cleanest. Then I make sure to use 2 or 3 of the toilet seat covers. If there are no covers, I use toilet paper. Maybe I'm over the top, but I can't handle being any different. Because my husband loves me, he cleans the toilets at our house. Like I said earlier, hate toilets.

2 - I carry hand sanitizer with me everywhere. If something grosses me out, or if I feel that something is dirty, I pull it out and use it. Andy says that hand sanitizer does no good, but I choose to ignore that because then I would feel much more unclean. I also use hand sanitizer about 50 times a day in my classroom. I make sure my students use it constantly too.

3 - I make my class have "cleaning parties" most every day. This includes washing the tables, the chairs, and the walls with clorox wipes or other cleaner. We also wash the laptops every day. Yesterday I even washed all of the pencils in the classroom. Who knows if it will help, but I hope so.

4 - I don't tie shoelaces. Being a first/second grade teacher, I get asked constantly if I will tie a shoe. I always tell the kids to find a friend that knows how and ask them. My reasoning for this is that it will encourage them to learn how to tie their own shoes. Also, my mentor teacher last year told me that she did not tie shoes because one time one of her students came out of the bathroom and asked her to tie their shoes. When she did the shoelaces were wet....ever since hearing that, I cannot handle tying shoes of a child.

I guess I could be worse, but I could also be a lot better!
