I am sad to see Christmas Break coming to an end. It's strange enough that Christmas is over, but I am going to miss Christmas Break! We have had a fantastic break this year.
Monday, December 20th: Andy and I spent the day wrapping gifts. We also went to the Pizza Factory with our friends, The Marble's. It was just a good relaxing day.
Tuesday, December 21st: Andy worked all day.....so I went and spend 4 hours learning how to make homemade ravioli's with some friends from work. That was a lot of fun! Then I spent the rest of the day finishing Christmas shopping and preparing for our trip up north. That night at about 7:00 pm I ate some old BBQ chicken for dinner....BAD idea! That night when I went to bed I felt horrible, but figured that at 6:00 am when I woke up I would feel better and be ready to head north for our magical Christmas fun!
Wednesday, December 22nd: I woke up feeling much worse than I did when I went to bed the night before. I did not feel good enough to travel anywhere. I took some medicine and spent a majority of the day sleeping. I could not stand up. I was SOOOO sick! At about 5 pm I finally felt good enough that I thought I could handle sitting in a car for 4 hours. We left at about 6pm which was good that we got there, but we had missed dinner with the Butterfield's and dinner with 7 of my 8 best friends from K-town. We were both super bummed to miss both of those events...but it's life. I had food poisoning. NEVER EAT OLD CHICKEN....ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU THINK IT TASTES FUNNY! (I was just trying to not waste food). We got up to Jay and Julie's house at about 11:30 and a few hours later, they were back from their vacation in Mexico (I was jealous).
Thursday, December 23 - Saturday December 25th - We had so much fun preparing for Christmas. We made Chex mix and Mandy Crack Corn (Nick named my White Chocolate popcorn that because he said it was addicting) and ate way too much of it. We had lots of fun watching Christmas movies, playing nertz, and just laughing with each other. What a great family I married into. Christmas was relaxing and wonderful! We were definitely WAY TOO spoiled....but we are very excited and grateful for the wonderful gifts we were given. (Forgot to take pictures).
Sunday, December 26th - We got to go up to K-town and spend the day with my family. We got to see everyone except for Nicole and Jeff :( We ate a delicious breakfast, went to church, and had a yummy linner with my family. Then Scott, Hailey & family came over and we exchanged presents with everyone. Yet again, we were WAY TOO spoiled, but we were very excited with our gifts! I think that everyone enjoyed the gifts we gave them too. I don' t know how I forgot to take pictures of Shaylee & Eli, but I again forgot to bring out the camera....SAD! No worries, they are still ADORABLE children!
Monday, December 27th - We enjoyed the Rhodes' family Christmas party. This is mine and Andy's 3rd Christmas together and this was the first time we were able to go to the Rhodes' Christmas party. We had a lot of fun, and had a lot of good laughs.
Tuesday, December 28th - We went iceskating (which I purposely forgot to take pictures of). Andy had a blast, he is a really good iceskater. Iceskating really hurt my broken foot to where it started tingling....so I would skate around the rink once and then sit down, but we had fun.
That night we went with the whole tribe to see the lights at Temple Square. We haven't done that for a few years, so that was nice. I finally remembered to take pictures at Temple Square.
Wednesday, December 29th - After wandering around Costco for 2 hours waiting to get new tires we made a 9 hour journey home. It was SO snowy! We saw probably 24 cars that had slid off the road, we saw 4 jackknifed semis, and yeah. It was quite the stressful experience. I am so glad that Andy is good at driving in the snow! For the first 4 hours our top speed was 25 mph. Then after that we were able to average about 45 mph....it was CRAZY! We even were stopped on I-15 in Nephi for 30 minutes while we waited because the freeway was closed while we waited for the snow plows to pass. People were getting out of their cars and scraping their windshields....it was pretty stressful....but we made it back in one piece!
Thursday, December 30th - Friday, December 31st- Andy has been working and I have been unpacking and organizing. Trying to get ready for another half of the school year. I figure the more organized and clean our house is, the easier the next few months will be for both of us.
I hope that everyone has had a great holiday season too! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
